About us

WIN is a women-led foundation founded in March 2010 with a strong commitment to advancing equality, participation, and inclusion. Designed by women, for women, WIN is dedicated to ensuring that women—regardless of their background—have access to safe spaces, robust support networks, and meaningful opportunities to actively contribute to and transform their communities.

Our vision is to create a world where women are free, empowered, and fully equipped to shape inclusive and equitable societies.

To achieve this, our mission is to enhance women’s engagement in social, cultural, and economic life by establishing safe spaces, nurturing leadership, and collaborating with like-minded organizations that share our commitment to fostering inclusion.

Our story

Kwetu – Safe Space in the Netherlands

Kwetu offers a warm, welcoming environment for women with refugee and migrant backgrounds. Here, women and their families can organize community activities—from skill-building workshops to cultural events—that enhance their confidence, independence, and participation in Dutch society.

WIN in Africa

Across Africa, WIN collaborates with local partners including civil society groups, public institutions, private organizations, and faith-based actors. We support and strengthen existing initiatives that promote women’s leadership, economic empowerment, and community development.

Our Areas of Intervention

Our work is dedicated to advancing the rights and opportunities of women and children, fostering youth engagement, promoting peace and justice, and supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals."

Women & Children

Women and children are often the most vulnerable in society, yet empowering them creates positive ripple effects. When women are provided with education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, they can break cycles of poverty and build stronger families. Protecting and investing in children ensures they have the chance to thrive, leading to healthier, more resilient communities. By supporting both women and children, we contribute to building a future of equality and opportunity.

Youth Engagement

Engaging youth in leadership and decision-making is key to building a sustainable future. Young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also powerful agents of change today. By providing platforms for youth to voice their ideas and take action on issues like climate change, inequality, and human rights, we empower them to create innovative solutions. Their involvement helps shape policies and movements that drive progress and social transformation.

Peace & Justice

Peace and justice go hand in hand. A peaceful society requires fair systems that uphold human rights and ensure equality.

Women are essential in peacebuilding, often leading grassroots efforts for conflict resolution and reconciliation.

Achieving gender equality strengthens justice by creating a society where everyone has equal access to resources, opportunities, and protection, fostering social cohesion and long-term stability.

SDGs

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a global framework for addressing issues like poverty, inequality, and climate change. Gender equality is a key focus, as empowering women is essential for achieving all the goals. Women’s involvement in economic, social, and environmental sectors is crucial for sustainable development. To truly achieve the SDGs, we must ensure that no one, particularly women and marginalized groups, is left behind in the pursuit of a fair and sustainable world.
